Since the date at which it reached 100 cases of COVID-19, Kazakhstan has suffered 26% greater mortality than would be expected for the same dates in normal times.

Germany, by comparison, has had an excess death rate of 3%.

Kazakhstan's worst point of the pandemic so far was the month beginning on 30 June 2020, in which the country experienced 16,688 more deaths than would be expected for that month of the year.
