Since the date at which it reached 100 cases of COVID-19, Qatar has suffered 26% greater mortality than would be expected for the same dates in normal times.
Hungary and Luxembourg have had excess mortality rates of 16% and 5% respectively.
Qatar's worst point of the pandemic so far was the month beginning on 31 March 2021, in which the country experienced 213 more deaths than would be expected for that month of the year.
